Girls WPIAL First Half of the Season Thoughts & Notes

WPIAL AAA Girls

The North Allegheny girls’ team continues to dominate and reload each season. Don’t be surprised if we see a Kynaston, Kucler, & Kucler finish in the top 3 at the WPIAL finals.

Look out for the young Norwin girls’ team; five of their top 8 are freshmen or sophomores. Don’t be surprised if they make the trip to Hershey in November.

Peters Township girls have the best senior trio in the WPIAL. They are going to be sleepers when it comes to the postseason. With the underclassmen gaining experience and getting faster, they are sure to turn heads at the WPIAL finals.

Three other teams to watch in the WPIAL AAA girls’ division are Moon, Upper St. Clair, and South Fayette.

WPIAL AA Girls

North Catholic girls have the potential to compete for the girls’ PIAA AA state team championship with their A lineup all running on the same day.

Lakyn Schaltenbrand is having an incredible senior season, establishing herself as the top girl in the AA field.
