What is your approach to setting goals throughout your season?
My approach to setting goals throughout the season is to first identify my ultimate goal for how I want my season to look by the end. From there, I set specific times I want to achieve in each race and design workouts that will give me the confidence to compete. Over time, I accumulate small wins or accomplishments that add up to my final goal. Lastly, I focus on mental preparation throughout the season to increase my chances of achieving every goal.

What are your favorite running shoes and gear?
I’m a big fan of New Balance shoes. I like the FuelCell Rebel V3’s for speed work and the V4’s for longer runs. I also wear a pair of Hoka’s for any mid-distance runs. As for gear, I wear a COROS watch and my favorite—Chicken Leg shorts. The ones with donuts are definitely my favorite to wear.

What advice would you give to someone new to cross country?
The best advice I’d give is to take each race and practice one step at a time. Cross country is a sport that requires patience to improve, due to all the miles and workouts you have to do. You need a strong mentality to get through each race, and telling yourself “just take one more step” will help you stay focused and finish the race to the best of your ability.
