Favorite XC Course: Sharpsville

How did you get started in cross-country?
I started cross country in 6th grade when I did Heart and Soul, a running program, at my elementary school. From there, I ran with my dad and sister because they both are runners. Then in 7th grade I decided to try cross country, which my sister also did, and I have been running since!

Do you have a favorite cross-country memory or race?
My favorite cross-country memory is not only running my PR of 18:36 at the Carlisle Invitational but also becoming the 3rd fastest Wildcat in Latrobe Cross Country History.

What advice would you give to someone who is new to cross country running?
The advice I would give to someone would be that cross country is a tough and challenging sport, but the hard work pays off and having a team that feels like family makes cross country more enjoyable.

What are your goals for this cross-country season?
I would like to consistently run my races in the 18–19 minute range plus make it to states again and better my placement by finishing in the top 25!

What is your favorite running quote ?
Look in the mirror. That’s your competition.

Emerson enters her junior year as a two-time PIAA XC qualifier, and she is one of the fastest girls in Latrobe school history. This season, she has achieved three top-3 finishes at the Blue Devil Invite, Kiski Invite, and Tiffin Carnival. She’s an athlete who has been flying under the radar but is now poised to capture the spotlight at the WPIAL Finals in the girls AAA race. Ultimately, she has her sights set on claiming a PIAA medal in 2023. With her experience and passion for the sport, there is no doubt she will achieve any goals she sets for this season.
