How do you handle the pressure of competition, especially during important events or championships?
I find comfort in the work that I put in throughout the season. I look back on workouts, races, and the sacrifices I made and trust in that.

Can you share a specific moment or race that was particularly memorable for you, whether it was a victory or a personal achievement?
Qualifying for footlocker nationals was extremely memorable for me, as it was my third and final attempt of going to San Diego. Sophomore year I was 32nd, Junior year I was 12th, and finally everything clicked in my attempt senior year where I finished 4th and earned the opportunity to race at nationals. I never gave up on that dream of qualifying even when it didn’t go my way the two prior years, and came back and worked harder every season.

In your opinion, what makes track and field a unique and rewarding sport, and how has it shaped your character and values?
Track and field is an incredible sport. The moments where everything comes together are just perfect. You can have some moments that make you want to give up on your dreams, but I have fallen in love with this process of working as hard as I can to accomplish the big goals that I set for myself. It has impacted my overall character as it has taught me how to be extremely discipline in other aspects of my life as well.

How do you contribute to creating a positive and supportive team culture within the track and field program?
Something that helps me is trying to not let myself be defined solely by my performances, and rather be defined as a good teammate, role model, friend, or competitor. I love going to track meets and meeting new people, and I will even warm up with girls from other teams for some races. It makes the experience so much more fun and also helps you realize that everyone around you is going through the same thing and I am not alone.

Looking beyond high school, do you have aspirations to continue your track and field career in college or at a higher level? How do you envision your future in the sport, and what goals have you set for yourself?
I am continuing my running career at UNC chapel hill starting in the fall of 2024 and have aspirations of helping the team get on the podium at NCAAs, being a part of an NCAA All American DMR, and qualifying for NCAAs individually in outdoor track. I would also like to hopefully continue my running career on to the professional level after college.

When discussing the greatest female distance runners in WPIAL history, Logan St. John Kletter must be mentioned in the conversation. The Mount Lebanon senior and future North Carolina Tar Heel aims to defend her WPIAL 1600m and 3200m championships, as well as her PIAA State Championship 3200m title. The burning question is whether Logan can break the magical 10-minute barrier in the 3200-meter run, a feat that has been accomplished by only one female runner from Pennsylvania. If anyone has the ability, it’s Logan. Her determination and natural running ability make her a threat in any event she competes in on the track.
