Is there a specific race or competition you’re particularly proud of?
I am proud of my 110m hurdles; I keep improving and getting better each time.
How did you first become involved in track and field?
Well, I always ran track in Jamaica, and when I moved, my dad encouraged me to continue.
What is your favorite event to compete in, and why?
My favorite event to compete in is definitely the 110m hurdles because it’s such a technical race.
What was the most challenging moment in your career, and how did you overcome it?
My most challenging moment was last WPIAL in 2023 when I was the favorite to win but ended up tearing my hamstring. I overcame it by putting in the work and striving to be the best version of myself possible.
What are your goals this season?
My number one goal this season is to run a 14.6 in the hurdles or faster.
What is your favorite track and field memory from your high school career so far?
My favorite track memory was watching the steeplechase at Slippery Rock in 2022.
How do you manage stress and nerves before a big competition?
I manage stress by listening to music, and I really don’t get nervous until I’m on the start line, which then converts into adrenaline.
What is the most significant lesson you’ve learned from your experiences in track and field?
One significant lesson I’ve learned is how to manage stress effectively and use nerves to my advantage, transforming them into adrenaline when I compete.
Senior Achan Green from Penn Hills is one of the top hurdlers in the WPIAL this season. He has already won the TSTCA Championships in the 110-meter hurdles and placed third at the Butler Invite. Achan is a top contender to win either the 110 hurdles or the 300 hurdles, and he aims to break 14.5 and 39.5 in both hurdles races in 2024
