Thoughts:
Peyton Murray, the defending PIAA discus state champion, is ready to defend his title against the current WPIAL champion, Matthew Sarnowski, in an exhilarating battle between two of the top throwers in WPIAL history. As they square off for the final time this season, the stage is set for an unforgettable showdown. With both athletes at the peak of their abilities, it’s clear that a personal record will be needed to claim the gold medal. This final meet promises to showcase the incredible talent and dedication of these remarkable competitors. Both have had this date circled on their calendars for a year, but for two different reasons: one to defend his championship, and the other to win a state championship discus title.

Thoughts
The girls’ 3200-meter run has had some very interesting history over the past four seasons. The last four state champions have been girls from the WPIAL, and the PIAA record has been broken three times in the past four seasons. Logan St. John Kletter returns to make history by winning her second 3200-meter title and lowering her own PIAA 3200-meter run record. I believe Logan wants to finish her high school career as one of the best ever in PA, and this race will leave that mark in a lot of people’s eyes.

Jack McGhee Penn Trafford 33rd

Winning Time Prediction: 3:57.98

Thoughts:Usually, the main event is saved for last, but the 1600-meter run starts the 2024 PIAA Championships with a bang! Dale Hall is looking to repeat as the AAA Boys’ PIAA 1600-meter run champion, but standing in his way will be US #1, 3:59.81 Drew Griffith. Dale made his move with 200 meters left in the race in 2023. Will we see a similar race strategy, or will he push the pace from the gun? In many people’s eyes, this will be the race of the weekend.
