2023 PIAA Boys A State Champion

How does it feel to return as the reigning PIAA A Boys State Champion, and what emotions does this title bring?
It holds a little bit of pressure for sure to want to defend the title, but more than anything, it inspires confidence in my training and racing leading up to it. Nothing is given, but if I could do it once, I can certainly do it twice.

In what specific ways have you prepared differently this year compared to last season to defend your title?
Even higher volumes of training and taking care of the little things like nutrition and sleep.

Who has been your biggest inspiration or role model in your running journey, and how have they influenced your approach to the sport?
My biggest role models have been the amazing classes of 2023 and 2024. Getting to race against the top runners in the country from those classes has given me so much inspiration and experience. My biggest inspiration, however, has to be my community and my team, because all the love I have felt for running has been with these guys.

What valuable lessons have you learned from your toughest races, and how have they shaped your strategy and mindset?
Not every race is the same; there’s a difference between running for a win and running for a record, and there is an important place for both. Understanding your competition and the race situation aids in your decision on which approach to take.

What are your personal goals for this cross-country season?
To repeat my state title and WPIAL title, and to qualify for Nike Cross Nationals at NXR.
