A rising athlete poised for a major leap forward. This competitor shows strong upward momentum and has the potential to surprise the field with a standout 2026 season.
Under-the-Radar Contender
An athlete flying below the hype who could shock the WPIAL in 2026. Not widely discussed yet, but their development, work ethic, or recent marks suggest something big is coming.

Fastest / Furthest Mark in 2026 represents my prediction of the top time or mark that will be achieved during the outdoor season for each gender classification and event.
The NixonTFXC preseason list is based on performances from the 2025 WPIAL Finals. Freshmen and 2026 Indoor Track & Field results were not used in creating this list. While I may not be aware of athletes who are changing events or shifting their focus this season, these rankings are designed to spark discussion and excitement heading into the upcoming year. With so much talent across the WPIAL, it is impossible to include every deserving athlete in every event—but this list highlights athletes who could headline the 2026 season.
The PEC Approach
When meeting with a new client Melissa locates the positive aspects of the client’s current routines. Routines can include visualization techniques, self-talk, attentional cues, etc. She finds it important to focus on these first because it helps foster a positive psychological environment. Melissa believes that sometimes all an athlete needs is for someone to believe in them. From the beginning she supports her athletes and makes it clear that she is committed to providing mental coaching where needed. Her clients can count on her every step of the way. She also encourages her clients to adopt a growth mindset and works with them to identify strategies to promote this way of thinking. Melissa finds that clients benefit most from 1-3 sessions; however, she provides the client with appropriate techniques for immediate implementation upon the initial session. Further sessions are guided by the client’s screening results. Her hope is that her clients will see improvements after just one session. Melissa is known for her enthusiasm and selfless dedication to helping her athletes gain their edge. She can’t wait to work with you!
