There’s nothing quite like the HOKA Night XC Showcase.
It may be the closest cross country athletes can get to that Friday night lights football feeling a packed atmosphere, high-level competition, and some of the region’s best runners battling it out as the sun goes down and the lights come on.
On Saturday night, August 29, 2026, that experience returns to SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, bringing athletes and teams together for one of the most exciting early-season cross country meets in the region.
And Western Pennsylvania will be well represented.
Several top WPIAL programs including North Allegheny, Norwin, Butler, Fox Chapel, OLSH, West Allegheny, Seneca Valley, and Peters Township will cross the state line ready to compete and make their presence felt.
Officially, it’s every team and every athlete competing for themselves. But when some of Western Pennsylvania’s best line up against Ohio’s top competition, there’s a little something extra on the line.
Ohio vs. Pennsylvania.
The action begins at 4:00 p.m. with the youth race, but this meet takes on a completely different feel as the evening moves along. The sun disappears, the lights take over, and the high school races become the center of attention.
And the later it gets, the faster it gets.
The night builds toward the Boys Showcase at 9:45 p.m., followed by the Girls Showcase at 10:10 p.m., giving some of the fastest athletes of the night the opportunity to close out the event on center stage.
If you’re a fan of cross country, the HOKA Night XC Showcase belongs on your bucket list. It combines everything that makes the sport exciting great competition, a unique nighttime atmosphere, passionate fans, and athletes willing to test themselves early in the season.
This isn’t just another cross country meet.
It’s an experience.
The lights will be on.
The competition will be fast.
The energy will be high.
