Who is your role model in the running community?
My role model in the running community is definitely my older sister, Hope. Her genuine love for running inspired me to try cross country in 7th grade, and I haven’t looked back since. I admire her toughness and dedication. If you have ever met Hope, you know that she is someone who will never give up, no matter the circumstances.

How do you prepare for a race the night before?
The night before a race, we always have chicken Alfredo for dinner. I make it a priority to roll out my legs and ensure my bag is packed. As I fall asleep, I try to visualize every step of the race and how I want to perform. I strongly believe that visualization helps you prepare and perform much stronger.

What’s your favorite cross-country tradition at your school?
My favorite cross-country tradition at Uniontown is Freshman Hill. Every year before the season starts, we have a “welcome ceremony” for the freshmen. They start at a park in the mountains and run through the woods to a teammate’s house. Once they get there, they have to run up a long, steep hill to finish their welcome ceremony. The rest of the team hides along the hill as they run up, tossing water balloons. Afterwards, we all hose off, and the freshmen get an “I survived Freshman Hill” shirt!
